Books & Bags

I have been slowly doing a "fall cleaning" of our apartment. Going through junk drawers, storage bins and both our closets. Last week when my mom visited she helped me go through my closet since I was getting no where with D.

me: "Hey, D. Do you think I should toss this shirt?"
D: blank stare
me: "You can tell me the truth."
D: "Ummm...you would look cute in it but (trying to read my expression) you should probably get rid of it?"

My mom on the other hand forces you to let go of those sentimental pieces that you know you won't ever wear but let them take up space anyway. I saw an idea on Pintrest for yearly closet clean out. You flip all your clothes hangers one direction, and as you wear the clothes flip the opposite. At the end of the year, the pieces that don't get flipped get thrown out. Next time we move I'm definitely going to try it out. Anyway I ended up taking six massive garbage bags to the DI and left us with a lot more space. My goal is to go through EVERYTHING in my house and de-clutter before we have to pack everything for med school.

It helps while we are in the waiting period for med school to be doing prep work. It feels like we are never going to start the med school chapter of our life some days, but staying busy and preparing are really helping the time pass! By the time it comes for moving I will be ready to go on a 24 hour notice!

On an entirely different note, I need book suggestions. D and I read together every night before we go to bed. We have already finished the Harry Potter series (D does the BEST voices haha) as well as Hunger Games. Any books you love to read out loud? Action/fast paced books work best for us since it keeps it feeling like a treat rather than an obligation.

  1. That's impressive that you've started de-clutter. Smart idea so you have less to pack. I always have the intentions of de-clutter, but not the enthusiasm.
