I hope everyone enjoyed their day of patriotic festivities! I know we sure did! We spent the morning sleeping in (we were up very late talking with my brother/sister-in-law and then a broken down car) rather than on a curb filled with salt water taffy. That fact makes me sad, I LOVE parades. But then we went to a family pool party where my Uncle Dave grilled and Aunt Sandy made a delicious spread. The sun was perfect, the water was perfect and it was a lovely afternoon.
Later we met up with our besties Jason and Selaina to go to dinner and out to our hometown fireworks. I come from a small town. Though the fireworks are subpar, the live band is incredibly off key, and the mosquitoes might eat you alive...it holds a special place in my heart. We watched the kids run around and saw old friends and drank in the summer night. Afterwards, we drove out to the deepest roads in Hooper where the fields open up and the dirt flies and you can smell the salt off the lake. I love that place. I will always love it.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I met my sweet husband three years ago yesterday. It was a night very much like last night. So, thank you America! You gave me more than I ever thought you could.
